No Man’s Orchard 60 Years On

The 60 Years On celebrations took place in No Mans Orchard on 26 July 2008 and were a resounding success.  Beneath the glorious trees the Morris dancers and brass band performed with gusto.  All around were stall showing craft work, Kentish fruit and local countryside groups.  Visitors lunched in the sun on hog’s roast sandwiches, real ale and local fruit juices.  A touring minstrel provided entertainment throughout the day.

The highlight of the day was the unveiling by Mr Arthur Finn of our new serpent sculpture.  The sculpture was designed and carved by Rochester sculptor Steve Portchmouth and made possible by a grant from Awards For All.  Mr Finn spoke of his long association with fruit farming and the changes over the years.

Altogether a perfect summer day in a unique old Kentish orchard.
